This is a repost from the Sociology of the Environment yahoo groups:
We are organizing a climate action festival, entitled 350 Minutes of Climate Action on the October 24 Global Day of Climate Action. Part of this initiative is organizing a series of climate actions leading up to October 24 in order to build awareness of the 350 agenda, and to foster familiarity and hopefully gather more support in time for the International Day of Climate Action.
The "launch" of our campaign on August 28 will feature an art exhibit (on the wastefulness of the disposable lifestyle and creative solutions to this problem), alongside a film showing, discussion, and gig. We also hope to launch our campaign against disposable wares in food courts (particularly Araneta malls) and food establishments that have a policy favoring the use of disposables, or that to use such even when their products are to be consumed in the restaurant. Examples of the latter include Yellow Cab, Red Mango, Fro-Yo, and almost every popular coffee chain (Figaro, Starbucks, Seattle's Best, Bo's) that serves iced/ cold drinks in plastic and/or paper cups and that have water stations stacked with the same disposables instead of water glasses.
As we are against the use of disposable wares, all activities are zero-waste, and as such, are no smoking. Also, because each climate action is an ecological event, all activities are likewise no drinking. Vegetarian snacks will be served, but we encourage everyone to bring their own water bottles.
We hope to see you there. This will be at the picnic pavilion of the Quezon City Memorial Circle, and will start at 6PM. As this is an autonomous, d.i.y. activity, there will be no fees at the door.

350.org
350.org
is an international grassroots campaign that aims to mobilize a global climate movement united by a common call to action. By spreading an understanding of the science and a shared vision for a fair policy, we will ensure that the world creates bold and equitable solutions to the climate crisis. 350.org is an independent and not-for-profit project.
What is 350? 350 is the number that leading scientists say is the safe upper limit for carbon dioxide in our atmosphere. Scientists measure carbon dioxide in "parts per million" (ppm), so 350ppm is the number humanity needs to get below as soon as possible to avoid runaway climate change. To get there, we need a different kind of PPM-a "people powered movement" that is made of of people like you in every corner of the planet.
